Classical Music in Manchester Vermont

Michael Rudiakov Music Academy

Celebrating Our 10th Year of Music Instruction

Michael Rudiakov Music Academy The Michael Rudiakov Music Academy (MRMA) is a non-profit organization offering classical music instruction to children in the Manchester, Vermont area.

The Academy is dedicated to the memory of internationally renowned cellist, Michael M. Rudiakov (1934-2000). For seventeen years, as Artistic Director of the Manchester Music Festival, Michael helped to bring classical music to Manchester area children through youth concerts, school demonstrations and Music Education Week. “The arts” said Michael, “are good for the development of the mind and spirit, and for the life of the community in every possible way.” Michael's devotion to his craft as both a performer and a music educator provided the motivation behind this important enterprise.

MRMA currently offers private instruction in violin, viola and cello, to beginning or advanced students age 6-15, or advanced students age 16-18. Lessons are taught by professional, classically trained instrumentalists, each with many years of orchestral, small ensemble, and teaching experience.

The Fall and Winter semesters conclude with a student recital. This is an opportunity for students to perform pieces they have worked on during the semester. All students are strongly encouraged to participate in the recital as it is a vital part of their musical experience.

All MRMA students and their families receive free admission to most of the Manchester Music Festival concerts throughout the year.

LESSONS
MRMA offers two ten week semesters and one five week semester of instruction annually. The 45 minute private lessons are given weekly at Festival House located on Dillingham Avenue in the Manchester Village. New students are welcome at any time during the semester.

All lessons are 45 minutes long and are usually scheduled back to back. Students must be on time for all lessons in order to not take up the next student's lesson time. Any parent who needs to speak with a teacher must do so within the lesson time or contact the teacher outside of the lesson schedule.

Young Classical Artist Ensemble Missed Lesson Policy
  • Any lesson cancelled by a teacher will be rescheduled and made up in a timely manner by the teacher.
  • Any student cancelling a lesson for non-emergency reasons must notify their teacher at least 24 hours in advance of the lesson.
  • Students canceling a lesson due to illness or emergency must call their teacher, or the MMF office (362-1956).

The student is responsible for contacting the teacher to reschedule any lesson cancelled by the student. Students who wish to change their lesson time can contact the MMF Education Director or contact another parent directly to see if there is another opening or possibility of switching with another student.

Lessons missed without prior notice will not be made-up. Students who miss 2 lessons without a reason risk losing their lesson slot. All make-up lessons due to student absences must occur before the end of the MRMA lesson year unless prior arrangements have been made with your teacher.
