Classical Music in Manchester Vermont

Manchester Music Festival In-school Programs

Chamber Music Programs for Schools

The Manchester Music Festival helps local schools enhance their current music curriculum through live music performances, demonstrations, and assistance in creating and maintaining educational programs for students. All these programs are available to schools free of charge.

Residencies:
Each spring a small classical music ensemble visits area schools. MMF musicians play for smaller groups of students creating an atmosphere that promotes conversation. Visits are generally two hours in duration and can be geared to specific age groups. Recently, the MMF String Quartet visited schools with a guest guitarist. One piece in their repertoire was a version of Jimi Hendricks' Purple Haze arranged for string quartet and electric guitar. The students loved it and it brought back memories for many of the faculty!

Demonstrations:
MMF regularly visits schools demonstrating string instruments. Thanks to a grant from the Stratton Foundation and Vermont Arts Council our “Meet the Music” program was offered to seven southern Vermont elementary schools. Children were offered a demonstration of all the string instruments and a performance by violinist, Joana Genova and violist, Ariel Rudiakov.
